Can we get married at Crow’s Hall?

Crow’s Hall is not currently licensed for civil ceremonies, so it is not possible to get married on site. We can share information about local registry offices and locations for the ceremony including the beautiful medieval Church of St Mary Magdalene in nearby Debenham, and have some great ideas for getting between them and Crow’s Hall in style.

The island gardens, grounds and Tudor long barn are popular for blessings and other ceremonies.

How many guests can I invite?

How many would you like to have? Crow’s Hall offers exclusive access to an extensive site which has endless possibilities. The Tudor long barn, Crow’s Hall island gardens and the paddocks perfect for marquees of all shapes and sizes – ensure that your wedding can be just perfect, whatever the weather.

The Tudor barn can accommodate 200 people seated for your reception or wedding breakfast.
For a blessing or theatre-style gathering, it can seat 200 guests.
For an evening reception, it can accommodate up to 250 guests.
The long barn space is huge – and hugely flexible. It can easily be segmented using screening or creative lighting into separate areas, perhaps to accommodate your bar or buffet, a chill-out lounge, ‘kidzone’ or quiet corner.

Marquees can be erected in the paddocks area adjacent to the barn subject to discussion. In the past, these have included a teepee-topped mega-marquee which could welcome up to 400 guests.

The Garden Amphitheatre is popular for outdoor blessings or more formal moments. Located on the island with the moat and countryside panoramas as a backdrop it is a stunning and much-loved location – although there are other garden rooms on the island too. It typically accommodates up to 100 guests seated /  200 standing.

Can we bring four-legged friends too?

Absolutely – why should your faithful hound or even your pony or horse miss out on all the fun?

Dogs: We welcome friendly, well-behaved dogs – we have several of our own at Crow’s Hall as you’ll see from all the pictures! Tell us all about your canine friends and we can advise how we can help to make them feel part of the proceedings.

Horses: Crow’s Hall is unique as a wedding celebrations venue in that we would love it if you brought your equine friend along for the ride. We have extensive equestrian facilities for our own horses and are pleased to offer comfortable stabling, plus use of paddocks and all our on-site equestrian facilities including our ménage and horse-walker. Parking up the horsebox is no problem and there is excellent off-road riding in the Deben valley countryside around the site.

Marquees may be erected in the paddocks area adjacent to the barn. Gazebos may be located within the island gardens. We’d be delighted to discuss the possibilities based on your requirements.

Do we have exclusive use?

Absolutely. Our wedding packages include exclusive use of the venue for a full 7 days to allow plenty of time to set your wedding scene (including putting up marquees etc.) to just the way you have dreamt it.

We only ever host a small number of weddings over the summer each year and rarely more than two in each month. Any weddings dovetail in such a way that there is never any overlap. The only other people on site will be those of us who live here and our small team (for the venue, our horses and the farm).

How long do we have the venue for?

Our venue hire packages are for up to seven full days.
Start days are negotiable. Typically hire periods run from a Tuesday to the following Monday.
Luxury accommodation is included for up to 6 persons for 4 days (Thursday through to Monday), on a bed and breakfast basis in Crow’s Hall.

The hire fee is a one-off fee – there will be no additional commissions or corkage charges levied by Crow’s Hall. The full week hire allows you to set-up, take-down and really personalize the venue without feeling rushed, experiencing a truly personal and unique service.

Staying on site also gives you the possibility of enjoying smaller-scale gatherings and celebrations around your main event (eg. a drinks party, family dinner, BBQ), perhaps with guest accommodation through our additional glamping packages.

On occasion, shorter hire packages may be possible by negotiation. It is however our experience that couples appreciate the full week to make their preparations at such an extensive venue.

Do you have a Wedding Co-ordinator or an Event Manager for the day?

For couples living further afield or with heavy commitments elsewhere, we highly recommend the services of our in-house event manager. We offer a personalized service for your special occasion without you incurring any commission charges.

Caroline Spurrier is a highly experienced events coordinator as well as the owner of Crow’s Hall. She loves sharing her country home for happy occasions and is discretely on hand just as much as required to ensure that everything goes smoothly in your preparations, on the day and when everything is eventually being cleared away.

From suppliers and caterers to how your horse or hound can be appropriately accommodated to join you at the festivities, Caroline is not just a fantastic fount of knowledge, but a hugely helpful and much appreciated pair of hands.

We only ever host weddings over the summer each year from April to September inclusive. Crow’s Hall is a working farm and in the chillier winter months, we remove the carpet in the Tudor long barn, to provide a much need seasonal farm workshop and agricultural store.

Is the property really as private as it says it is?

Do come and see for yourself. Crow’s Hall sits on the Deben Valley ridge surrounded by its grounds and rolling fields. It is at the end of a very long, no-through lane. The only other properties for miles are a handful of estate cottages.
