AT CROW’S HALL

A house to have to yourselves.

Some places change when you are able to stay.

At Crow’s Hall, the house becomes familiar by degrees: the walk across the bridge, the morning light on the moat, the drawing-room fire, the gardens before anyone else is awake and the long view across the Suffolk fields.

Whether as part of a wedding, a private family stay or a longer estate gathering, staying here gives people time to feel at home.

THE HALL

Historic in character.
Comfortable in use.

Crow’s Hall is a Grade II* listed moated manor house, set on its own private island within the wider estate.

Inside, it remains unmistakably a real home: individual, layered and personal rather than uniform. Historic rooms, old beams and open fires sit alongside the practical comforts needed for a relaxed stay.

The house has five bedrooms. The top floor forms a more self-contained part of the Hall, with two bedrooms, a kitchenette, dining area and separate bathroom. The remaining bedrooms include king-size and super king-size rooms, individually furnished and with views across the gardens, moat and estate.

There are three bathrooms and two additional cloakrooms, together with a drawing room, sitting room, country kitchen, formal dining room and quiet office.

THE ISLAND OUTSIDE THE DOOR

Held by water. Open to the estate.

The final part of the arrival is across the bridge over the moat. It creates a gentle sense of separation from everything outside: the Hall and gardens become your own small world for the duration of the stay.

The island gardens begin just beyond the door, offering places to walk, read, gather for morning coffee or sit quietly beside the water. Beyond them lie the paddocks, historic farm buildings and open Suffolk landscape of the wider estate.

There is room for activity, but no obligation to fill the day. Depending on the season and the arrangements for your stay, there may be opportunities for rowing and fishing on the private moat, croquet, badminton, giant chess, table tennis and pool.

PRIVATE STAYS

Time together, without an itinerary.

Outside weddings, Crow’s Hall may be available for private stays, family gatherings and selected occasions.

The pleasure lies in simple things: slow meals around the table, a walk before breakfast, children discovering the gardens, drinks beside the moat and evenings gathered around the fire.

Crow’s Hall does not operate like a conventional hotel. Each stay is considered individually, with availability and rates shaped by the dates, duration, number of guests and the parts of the estate you would like to use.

Caroline will discuss the possibilities with you personally and help shape an arrangement that suits the reason for your stay.

EQUESTRIAN FACILITIES

Bring the horses with you.

For guests wishing to stay with their horses, a number of equestrian facilities may be available by prior arrangement.

These include on-site stables, a paddock, a 20m × 60m Equestrian Surfaces arena, grass gallop and Claydon horse exerciser.

Availability will depend upon the dates and wider use of the estate. The facilities are arranged separately and are subject to an additional charge.

Please mention your horses when making the initial enquiry so that Caroline can talk you through the facilities, practical requirements and what may be possible during your stay.

WEDDING STAYS

Stay close, stay longer.

For weddings, staying at Crow’s Hall changes the rhythm of the celebration.

The couple and those closest to them can arrive before the wedding day, settle into the house and prepare together. Afterwards, the Hall remains a private place to return to once the celebration has moved through the gardens and Long Barn.

Then there is the following morning: breakfast, stories, a walk beside the moat and no feeling that everything disappeared at midnight.

Depending on the wedding route, the Hall may be available for two, three or five nights. The final arrangement is shaped around the scale of the wedding, the people staying and the way the wider estate is being used.

GLAMPING ON THE ESTATE

Wake nearby. Gather again.

For larger Estate Weddings, glamping allows more guests to remain close to the Hall, gardens and Long Barn.

Bell tents, lighting and additional facilities can turn the estate into a temporary village: somewhere for guests to return to after the celebration and from which everyone can gather again the following morning.

Every arrangement is different. Caroline and the relevant suppliers will help determine the right layout, facilities and scale for the celebration being planned.

NEARBY ACCOMMODATION

Not everyone needs to stay on the estate.

For weddings and larger gatherings, Caroline can suggest nearby hotels, inns and private accommodation where helpful. This is best considered early, particularly when guests are travelling some distance or the celebration extends across several days.

BEYOND CROW’S HALL

There is plenty to discover beyond the estate, should you wish to venture out.

Debenham and Framlingham offer historic Suffolk streets and independent places to eat and visit. Further afield are Bury St Edmunds, Snape Maltings, Aldeburgh and the Suffolk coast, while Newmarket and the surrounding countryside hold particular interest for equestrian visitors.

Caroline is always happy to suggest places suited to the time you have and the kind of stay you are planning.
